Convention on the Rights of the Disabled (OKU)

Adopted by the United Nations on December 13, 2006.

Opened to signature and ratification of the member states on 8 April 2007.

Till January 9, 2011

  • • 147 countries have signed the Convention.
  • • 99 countries have ratified.

Malaysia signed the Convention on 8 April 2008.

The Convention guarantees the disabled (OKU) enjoy equal opportunities with normal person as well as full and effective participation in society in all aspects of life - accessibility, mobility, health, education, employment, rehabilitation and participation in the political, economic and socio-cultural.
